Respect
As a member of the Merced Marching 100, I will adhere to the following Rules of Conduct. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in disciplinary action including removal from the Merced Marching 100.
ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
The following school rules are considered zero-tolerance rules for members of the Merced Marching 100.
Breaking any of these rules, or any felonious offense will result in the immediate removal of the student from the program.
Use and/or possession of alcohol.
Use and/or possession of drugs.
Adjudication and/or conviction of a felony.
Breaking any of these rules will result in:
1st Offense: Suspension from all activities not occurring in the school day for thirty days.
2nd Offense: Removal of the student from the program. Reinstatement into the program will only take place upon the Director's and Administrator's approval.
Use of tobacco, e-cigaretttes, vape.
Bullying
Inappropriate use of Social Media
I WILL RESPECT MERCED HIGH SCHOOL AND MERCED UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
While with the Merced Marching 100, members must conduct themselves appropriately, as they are representatives of the Merced Marching 100, Merced High School, and the Merced Union High School District. All District and High School rules will apply to all band-related events. Breaking of school/district rules will result in disciplinary action.
Members must be under adult supervision at all times.
Members must ride the bus to and from events. Any other arrangements must be cleared in advance by Merced High School and be in compliance with school policy.
I WILL RESPECT THE BAND ROOM
Members will not eat/drink in the Band Room.
Members will clean up after themselves and leave all areas cleaner than they found them.
Members will put away all chairs, music, stands, and equipment before leaving the Band Room.
Members will not use any profanity while in or near the Band Room.
Members will not store personal property in the Band Room.
I WILL RESPECT PERFORMANCES
Members will not miss performances.
At football games, members are to refrain from having food/drink in the bleachers.
At football games, members are expected to follow the drum major’s directions and be ready to perform on cue.
Members who miss performances without prior approval will be removed from the next performance.
At performance venues, members must walk in groups of two or more when not seated with the band.
Members will not use cell phones during a performance.
I WILL RESPECT REHEARSALS
All rehearsals and performances are mandatory. Acceptable reasons to miss are sickness/injury (with doctor’s note), death in the family, religious observance. It is expected that the absence/tardiness be communicated in writing in advance of the rehearsal/performance.
Staff-assigned sectionals are mandatory.
Members who miss Friday morning's rehearsal without prior approval will not be allowed to perform in that weekend’s performance(s).
Members are not allowed to miss rehearsals or leave early for work. Give your employer a full schedule now.
Members must know their part, their work, and their drill.
I WILL RESPECT OUR REHEARSALS
When the director, staff member, or student leader takes the podium, all sound stops.
Members will not talk during rehearsals.
Members will always have a pencil on their stand (for changes addressed to the music).
Rehearsals are for ensemble purposes. It is the members’ responsibility to learn their music.
Members will not use cell phones during rehearsals.
No food nor drinks other than water when playing.
Members are to be where they are instructed at all times.
I WILL RESPECT MY EQUIPMENT
Members must bring all appropriate equipment to every rehearsal.
Members must be responsible for the maintenance of their equipment.
Members who are issued school instruments or equipment will be responsible for the cost of repairs or replacement due to negligence or abuse.
Members will keep all equipment clean and well-maintained
I WILL RESPECT MY UNIFORM
While in uniform, members must conduct themselves appropriately, as they are representatives of the Merced Marching 100, Merced High School and the Merced Union High School District.
Members will wear their uniform as directed and will remove jewelry when in uniform.
Any student who is issued a school uniform will be responsible for the cost of repairs or replacement due to negligence or abuse.
Members will not eat or drink any food or drink with the exception of water while in uniform.
I WILL RESPECT MY STAFF
Instructions given by staff are to be followed.
Members will show appreciation to the staff.
Members will act appropriately to staff.
Remember and apply comments given.
I WILL RESPECT OTHER MEMBERS
Members will treat each other with respect and courtesy.
Members will not be overly loud and inconsiderate of others.
Members will not apply sunscreen, lotions, perfumes etc. in closed spaces/rooms.
Members must keep their hands to themselves and not invade others’ personal space.
I WILL RESPECT OTHER PROGRAMS
At competitions members will be polite to all other programs, applauding appropriately and saving polite discussion for after performances.
Members will acknowledge and applaud the efforts of other groups.
Members will not participate in any negative or potentially negative social media conversations.
I WILL RESPECT THE BOOSTERS
Members must be respectful of adults at all times.
Instructions given by parent chaperones and bus drivers are to be followed.
Members will show appreciation to the Boosters.
Member will participate in fundraisers.
